Digital conference on rediscovering classical ballet with ANITA GIGOVSKAYA President of Condé Nast Russia and DIANA VISHNEVA, National artist of Russia, prima ballerina at the Mariinsky theatre, Founder and Artistic Director of the international contemporary dance festival Context.

What transformations are classical cinema, ballet, theatre and opera undergoing in the modern world? Is there a conflict between traditional and contemporary?

What has changed in contemporary education? How much impact has a year of pandemic had on these areas of the arts? How does interaction between masters and students play out today?

Is it possible to talk about art taking a new path?

Antonia: fashion has always been cyclical with its balletic influence, there is a mutual poignancy between both art forms, with classical ballet’s future in mind.

How do you see this becoming a culture of

co-existence?

Anita : you asked a very good and relevant question for Russia.

what about Russian ballet, its known as a ballet school of the highest classical standards and you are a world wide recognised star and national artist.

You graduated from the Academy of Russian ballet, you are a star of the classical ballet with a capital 'C', arguably the strictest and most classical ballet school but eight years ago you founded a festival Context 'Diana Vishneva', which is a world-wide recognised festival of modern dance. it's more than a festival as you always say because a festival is just a project where different dance companies give travel and performances and they just show something and 'context festival' is something thing more than that , there are a lot of cultural events, public demonstrations of documentaries, virtual performances, public talks and  so on.

How would you asses the influence of the context festival on the art process in Russia, on the Russian ballet which of course comes form the classical ballet?
